In the future I fully intend that a history of Elizabethan Drama will occupy this space, but for the moment I am in test mode, desperately trying to get things to work for me and see what things look like. So here goes.
Early Elizabethan drama will be represented by such plays as The Troublesome Reign of King John, The Battle of Alcazar, Alphonsus, King of Aragon, and The Spanish Tragedy.
Plays illustrating particular problems faced by the theatre will also be included. Sir Thomas More, for example, illustrates difficulties with revision and with censorship.
I'm still working on getting things up and running; I hope to have a new edition of Heywood's Fair Maid of the West part 1 up soon, and Dyce's edition of Webster's The Devil's Law-Case. For now I'm starting a list of locations on the internet where particular plays can be found. At the moment only Massinger is on it, but others are coming soon. If Allah wills it.
